Task Force Military's Best Military Boots For Cold Weather 2024 Reading Celebrating the LOWA Zephyr. The Gold Standard In Military and Police Footwear. 4 minutes

The LOWA Professional collection has long been the gold standard when it comes to high-quality military and police footwear, combining rich tradition with modern-day innovation. At the forefront of this range of reliable footwear are the LOWA Zephyr boots. With new pairs on the way and over 20 years since the launch of the boots into the police and military sector, we thought it was only fitting that we celebrate the range and reflect on just why the LOWA Zephyr has rightfully earned its reputation as a leading choice when it comes to professional footwear.

The History Of LOWA Zephyr Boots

The LOWA Zephyr was originally created as dedicated hiking boot in 2002, combining comfort and an excellent fit with an innovative design. At an outdoor trade show in the USA in 2008, a dealership that did a lot of business with US Border Control became aware of the Zephyr model and identified that its robust and reliable nature would work perfectly in a military environment. As such, the boot was soon offered as a dedicated tactical boot in a desert colour, rapidly selling out and paving the way for further updates to create the uncompromising quality, outstanding fit and maximum functionality that the Zephyr boot is known for today. This makes the LOWA Zephyr the brand’s most successful model alongside the Lowa Renegade.

Fast forward to 2024 and a huge 1.6 million pairs have been sold in 78 countries. There are a range of different versions designed to cater for all professional needs, including the popular GORE-TEX iteration of the current Zephyr MK2 along with safety boot versions for specialist wear.

LOWA Zephyr Boots: Key Features

The current LOWA Zephyr MK2 Boots are the perfect example of just why the range is so highly regarded. These boots alone are composed of 75 individual parts that have been specifically designed as the perfect solution for emergencies and other critical situations - not to mention the fact that they offer extreme comfort and an excellent fit.

Some key features include:

Durability & Breathability

The best military boots need to be tough and hard-wearing and the LOWA Zephyr range certainly performs on this front. With a water-repellent, tear-resistant and abrasion-resistant suede and CORDURA upper, very little can get past this footwear. However, this durability does not come at the expense of comfort. There is the option to choose a GORE-TEX version of the MK2 boot to enjoy optimal waterproof protection and breathability.

Multi-Terrain Comfort

LOWA Zephyr boots are designed to offer total comfort to the wearer, even in the most complex and challenging situations. A number of features help to make this possible, including a two-tone lacing system and the inclusion of the LOWA-Exclusive MONOWRAP sole - a sole designed to reinforce the boot and provide additional traction. MONOWRAP was first used in LOWA boots in 1995 and therefore its inclusion is a great example of how the Zephyr boots combine a history of excellence with modern ideas.

Expert Grip

Another standout feature of LOWA Zephyr boots is their LOWA Cross soles. These exclusive soles provide excellent grip and traction on a variety of surfaces, whether slick, wet or even oily.

The New LOWA Zephyr Boots

Despite continually high sales of the existing model, innovation continues across the range of LOWA Zephyr boots. 3 new models will shortly be available here at Task Force, including a HI-CUT version of the Zephyr MK2 and an exceptional safety boot iteration of the boot.

The Zephyr MK2 Hi will be available with both a GORE-TEX and standard membrane, emphasising the levels of care LOWA put into ensuring that there is a suitable boot for all uses and requirements.
